An overview and role in the Be-Ready project
The Be-Ready (Best rapid environmental assessment decision system) project efficiently keeps up with the scheduled activities. The project includes a series of preliminary local events to promote its objectives and working mechanisms and raise awareness about marine pollution. The first significant local event was organized by the Marine Science Station (MSS).
The Marine Science Station (MSS) on 18 January 2021 held a local introductory workshop titled “ An overview and role in the Be-Ready project”. The workshop aimed at introducing the project, its objectives, and the working mechanism to achieve its desired goals.
It has been a very successful event in terms of attendance and curiosity and interest expressed by participants. It was attended by many representatives of departments, institutions, and non-governmental associations in Aqaba.
The workshop was initiated by the Director of the Marine Sciences Station, Dr. Ali Al-Sawalmeh, with a brief overview of the Marine Sciences Station and its role in promoting scientific research and implementing scientific projects to protect the marine environment in the Gulf of Aqaba. Among the speakers it is worth mentioning: Prof. Dr. Riyad Manasra, President of the University of Jordan – Aqaba, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rasheed from the University of Jordan. During the workshop, speakers discussed the MSS involvement in Be-Ready and the future perspectives of this project.
